American Idol Season 10: Episode 20 – Mar/24/2011 Tonight, the remaining 11 contestants will be doing their mighty parade on what they call as the Motown Week. Good Lord, we’ve just learned in the previous episode that the so-called “birth year week” (no idea what’s that thing being named in here) will only showcase embarrassing performances from the likes of Casey Abrams doing his godawful rendition of Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ or maybe Jacob Lusk’s another overly done vibrato in ‘Alone’ (any song that this guy sings always sounds like this)! Wow Jacob, I didn’t even recognized that’s a Heart song, blah! Tonight, maybe these 11 remaining American Idol hopefuls should try something else and please don’t bother doing “Love Is Like a Heatwave”, “I Can’t Help Myself Sugar Pie Honey Bunch” or “Superstition” because those songs were already butchered on Idol for almost a gazillion times! Apparently, someone else did it again! Oooops….

What happened tonight seemed to be interesting. First off, Liv Tyler is in the front row and I suppose that this is already a live episode, right?!

Second, my predictions once again came true. Have I said that I’m already a clairvoyant in the previous posts??! Oh yeah, because Pia Toscano is doing that same drill once again! Come on now, if you’re expecting an upbeat from her then sorry folks but that’s not happening tonight and JLo is certainly right on this one: “We’ve seen you sit there three times and do a ballad. You need to start incorporating that other dynamic.”

Third, Thia Megia did another rendition of Heat Wave with nothing special on it! She’s just singing and singing the song for the sake of singing the hell of it, so…

Casey Abrams redeemed himself after what I call ‘godawful’ rendition and messing (up to the point that I am embarrassed to watch that myself) a Nirvana song. Good.

Jacob Lusk… oh, not my favorite – but that’s just me…

Lauren Alaina remained great. Didn’t do anything outstanding, but she’s a looker tonight! She carries herself well on stage and I think that might be giving her a nice score already.

Stefano Langone… oh this guy! Well he’s singing like there’s nobody in there. JLo said that he’s not connected with the audience while he sings and I just couldn’t agree more!

Haley Reinhart is still struggling with herself at this point in the competition. Too bad but I think she can sing really well, only that she don’t know who she really is! Haha, I don’t know what the hell that’s suppose to mean, but hey…

Scotty McCreery might be the best of the night(?). Yup, he’s nailing it right and literally turned a Stevie Wonder classic into Country. Not to mention that the performance is very likable and lively that grabs your attention. Well done.

Paul McDonald is the same Paul McDonald that you’ve seen last week! What do I know, this guy is already an experienced musician. Maybe he’s not changing anything just to please the audience. Singing is still good ‘though…

Naima Adedapo, well I get it but I don’t think that the millions of audience do! Naima is confident, but the singing is just… OKAY.

James Durbin… I’ve noticed that both of these Stevie Wonder renditions were the best of the night. I can’t weigh who’s better between James Durbin and Scotty McCreery but they were both shining bright tonight. The vocals were so good in here and the stage presence will really make you watch him until the end of the song!
