If you’re a fan of America’s most popular show (reality or otherwise), you’d that Birth Year week means the finalists will sing a song released on the year they were born. And as usual, they were mentorless — harsh! So who did good and who will most likely be eliminated? CLICK HERE to find out & watch the videos! =)
None other than the kooky Megan Joy Corkrey! But before we go into that it must be said that Lady Gaga sang a very rousing rendition of “Poker Face” that had the American Idol audience grooving! =) Season 7 champ David Cook performed first with “Come Back To Me” (see video below) and was also given the platinum record award for his self-titled debut album. It was really an awesome night, even though it was April Fools Day, LOL! Anyway, onto Megan Joy — she landed in the bottom three with Anoop Desai and Allison Iraheta. She gave a classy farewell but managed to irk Simon Cowell!
The British judge – a man with an arctic temperament – was asked if he was going to save her. He looked up and said coldly to Megan Joy: “When you said you don’t care, nor do we.” He was referring to a comment she had made earlier – a sort of “I don’t care what the judges think…” WHOA! Anyway, here’s our top 8 finalists: Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, Matt Giraud, and Scott MacIntyre.
Nine contestants, ninety minutes of pure music. It was the week that the finalists of American Idol 8 went mentor-less — and the best thing? They got to choose their own song! No themes, just as long as their chosen song is in iTunes most popular downloaded songs. The big problem is, will the Top 9 be able to choose the right song for themselves? According to Kara dioGuardi, this week’s contest is for the singer to show off his/her artistry. Did they rose to the challenge? Watch the performances below and tell us what you think! =) CLICK HERE for the videos.
The latest AI champ will return to the the singing reality show’s stage for the first time since being crowned the Season 7 winner, and fans are already wanting a David Cook vs Adam Lambert artistry war! Both have been compared coz of their unique interpretations of famous songs. The former became an American Idol frontrunner after he sang a startling “Hello” and his slowed-down “Billie Jean.” Adam Lambert, on the other hand, really upped the artistry factor with last week’s haunting take on Smokey Robinson’s “Tracks of My Tears.”
Anyway, David Cook will sing “Come Back to Me,” the latest single off of his self-titled debut album on American Idol results night. His guesting comes in the midst of his first headline tour, which kicked off February 13 and has played to sold-out venues. Performing on American Idol that same night is Lady Gaga, singing “Poker Face.” Lady Gaga’s debut album, The Fame, was released in 2008, and its first single, “Just Dance,” netted a Grammy nod for Best Dance Recording. Watch you guys! =)
Motown Week is one of my favorite weeks in any given American Idol season. However, AI season 8 seems to be the one that got to me. Everybody just sang well (umm, except perhaps Megan Joy Corkrey’s kooky performance..), Stevie Wonder’s medley was just mind-blowing good and I really don’t want anybody to go just yet. But of course, somebody has to be eliminated unless the 4 judges saved him/her. So who got eliminated? CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT!
American Idol season 8 episode 23 is one of the best AI episode I’ve ever seen! Everybody was awesome and the Motown songs were rockin’ good! ^_^ Smokey Robinson (this week’s mentor) and Berry Gordy Jr. watched from the front row as the Top 10 singers performed. Adam Lambert sang an acoustic “The Tracks of My Tears” while Allison Iraheta gave her amazing rendition of “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.” Anoop Desai was sexxxay with “Ooh Baby Baby” while Megan Joy Corkrey gave a unique take on “For Once in My Life.” Lil Rounds provided the truest Motown vibe with “Heat Wave” while Kris Allen, accompanying himself with acoustic guitar, sang “How Sweet It Is (to Be Loved By You). Matt Giraud was also sexy with “Let’s Get it On” while Michael Sarver performed Temptations’ “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg.”
Country singer Randy Travis, who was this week’s guest mentor, said during performance night about the Top 11 group: “Probably as strong a group in the years that I have been watching ‘American Idol’.” Personally this year’s finalists are the best ones yet. However, someone will be eliminated, talented or not. So who got eliminated? WATCH THE AMERICAN IDOL VIDEOS HERE!
