If you’re a fan of America’s most popular show (reality or otherwise), you’d that Birth Year week means the finalists will sing a song released on the year they were born. And as usual, they were mentorless — harsh! So who did good and who will most likely be eliminated?

Danny Gokey sang Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” where he starts very slowly, then makes up for it with a great turnaround. Yhe judges’ reviews were mixed but leaning towards the positive =) The adorable (but married, boohoo!) Kris Allen does Don Henley’s “All She Wants To Do Is Dance” with an old jazzy feel with guitar and the judges didn’t like it. Too bad! =( Lil Rounds performs “What’s Love Got To Do With It” and apes Tina Turner. She’s got a great voice but the judges think she’s too karaoke. Kara DioGuardi says she needs to transform from a singer to an artist.

Anoop Desai sang perfectly “True Colors” and he blew the American Idol judges away. His ballad performance was simply awesome!! =) Scott McIntyre said goodbye to his piano and played a guitar to Survivor’s “The Search Is Over”! Unfortunately, the judges didn’t it =( Alison Iraheta does Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and she was amazing!! Her vocal chops and soul is far greater than her age would indicate. And last, but not the least, was Matt Giraud‘s oh-so sexy and oh-so perfect “Part Time Lover”! The judges raved about his performance and he’s definitely in the American Idol game! =)
